April 2024 was a record hot month, continuing the trend of the past 11 months in which each month set a new temperature record. This information was confirmed by the European Union Climate Change Monitoring Service.

URA-Inform reports the expert findings, citing Euractiv.

The monthly report of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) confirms that Since June 2023, each subsequent month has become the hottest on record, compared to the same period in previous years.

The world's average temperature in April reached its highest on record in the past 12 months, exceeding the pre-industrial average of 1850-1900 by 1.61 degrees Celsius.

Newcastle University climate scientist Gailey Fowler points out that The world is on the verge of exceeding the 2015 Paris Agreement target of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

“We are on the verge of losing the battle to limit warming to 1.5 degrees. My opinion — We've already lost this battle, and now we need to focus on preventing the 2-degree mark and reducing emissions as quickly as possible.” — she notes.

Global climate change is leaving its mark on the entire planet, requiring serious efforts from world leaders and society as a whole to combat the consequences of the greenhouse effect and maintain ecological balance.
