Ukraine hands US a revised 20-point peace proposal as drone attacks continue; Zelenskyy discusses security guarantees and reconstruction plans.

Ukraine has officially submitted a revised 20-point peace plan to the United States, as the conflict with Russia continues to escalate with hundreds of drone attacks overnight, reports Baltimore Chronicle. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasized ongoing coordination with European leaders to finalize the plan and discussed postwar reconstruction measures with U.S. officials.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that at least 287 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight into Thursday morning, with 40 of them downed over the Moscow region. Of these, 32 drones were reportedly heading toward Moscow. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed via Telegram that emergency services were dispatched to multiple sites to address falling drone debris. Additionally, Rosaviatsiya, Russia’s federal air transport agency, announced temporary flight restrictions at all four Moscow airports.

Zelenskyy stated that his negotiating team is “finalizing work on the 20 points of a fundamental document that could define the parameters for ending the war,” referring to the peace settlement proposal developed in collaboration with U.S. and European leaders over recent weeks. A Ukrainian official familiar with the talks told ABC News that the submitted version contains “some new ideas” regarding territorial arrangements and control over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The official clarified that it is not a completely new version, but rather the original 20 points with minor adjustments.

Ukrainian and U.S. teams are expected to hold online consultations focusing primarily on security guarantees rather than the revised points themselves. According to the official, three documents are currently under consideration: the original 20 points, a security guarantees document, and a reconstruction and economic framework. Discussions on the economy were held previously, with security guarantees scheduled as the main topic on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Russia continued its long-range attacks on Ukraine. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Russia launched 151 drones and three missiles, of which 83 drones and two missiles were intercepted. The impacts of one missile and 63 drones were recorded across 34 locations.

Zelenskyy highlighted that a meeting with the “Coalition of the Willing,” a group of mostly European leaders supporting Ukraine, was planned for Thursday. He stressed that all diplomatic visits and negotiations are aimed at producing practical results for Ukraine’s defense and resilience, posting on social media that “Ukraine is working swiftly; every visit and every negotiation we conduct always yields practical results for our defense and for our resilience.”
