Elections for the new head of the Ukrainian Football Association will take place on January 25, 2024.
Famous football player and former head coach Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko became the only candidate for the post of president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) .
This was reported on the official website of the UAF.
On Thursday, December 28, a meeting of the working group was held to verify the suitability of candidates for UAF president. In all protocols, Shevchenko was nominated.
The working group came to the conclusion that Shevchenko’s candidacy meets the requirements and criteria established by the UAF Charter for candidates for election as UAF president. Also, in accordance with the Charter of the Ukrainian Football Association, written consent was received from the candidate to participate in the election of the UAF President.
Thus, Shevchenko is the only candidate for election to the post of UAF president at the extraordinary XXVI Congress of the Ukrainian Football Association, which will take place on January 25, 2024 in the capital’s House of Football.
The results of the meetings of the commission and the working group were reported to FIFA and UEFA, who constantly receive information about the progress of preparations for the UAF Congress.
Let us remind you that since 2015, the post of president of the Ukrainian Football Association has been occupied by Andrey Pavelko. However, in February 2023, the court removed the functionary from the post of president of the UAF on suspicion of embezzlement of funds during the construction of a plant for the production of football grass. Since June of this year, Pavelko has been in custody without the right to bail.
