Ruslan Rotan's team released an undeclared football player onto the field.
Olexandriyafaces a technical defeat in the 18th round match of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL)with Shakhtar Donetsk.
The reason for the punishment may be the fact that midfielder Ivan Kalyuzhny, who was not on the Alexandrians’ roster for the game, took part in the match against the Pitmen. “Alexandria” confirmed this information on its official website.
“We inform you that, unfortunately, midfielder Ivan Kalyuzhny was not included in FC “Alexandria” in the match with FC “Shakhtar” on February 26, 2024. We apologize to all fans, teams and coaching staff. This unfortunate error occurred due to human error.
Ivan Kalyuzhny has been a player of our club since 2021 and at different times played for other clubs on loan. When a player was added to the application for a game in the UPL system in the “Referee's Report” section, the system perceived the player as declared, although he was withdrawn on August 29, 2023, which did not allow a timely response to this situation.
Sports Director suspended from his duties. The case has been transferred to the control and disciplinary committee, which will make a decision regarding this incident,” says the message.
We would like to remind you that Shakhtar failed to beat “Alexandria”. The match at the “Nika” stadium in Alexandria ended in a draw 0: 0. However, now, due to the participation of an undeclared player, Ruslan Rotan's team must receive a technical defeat 0:3.
Now “Alexandria” is ranked 11 1st place in the Ukrainian Championship, gaining 17 points after 17 matches. In the next round of the UPL, Rotan's team will compete with Zorya on March 3.
