Vitaly avoided surgery and hopes to play at the upcoming European Championship
Defender of the Ukrainian national team and English Everton Vitaly Mykolenko spoke about his injury received in the postponed match of the 29th round of the Premier League against Liverpool.
The 24-year-old footballer announced on his Instagram page that he does not need surgery and hopes to play at Euro 2024.
“First of all, I want to say a big thank you to everyone for the words of support, I read and see everything . I don’t need surgery, and now my goal is to recover as soon as possible. I hope to see you at the Euro,” Mikolenko wrote.
Vitaly also addressed the Everton fans, thanking them for their support and confirming that that due to injury he will not play again this season.
“You were incredible this season, especially in the derby. That’s why I came back from injury and played as much as I could. See you next season,” wrote Mykolenko.
In the game against Liverpool, the Ukrainian landed poorly on his leg after a horse fight with Reds forward Darwin Nunez, as a result of which he injured his ankle. Having received help from doctors, Mikolenko played out the first half, but was replaced during the break.
Note that Mikolenko played 28 matches this Premier League season, scoring two goals.
Three rounds before the end Everton (36 points) is in 15th place in the Premier League. The Toffees have already guaranteed themselves a place in the elite division for the next season, being 11 points clear of the relegation zone.
By the way, this season Everton was punished by having eight points withdrawn points in the Premier League standings for violating financial fair play rules.
The final Euro 2024 tournament will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14.
The Ukrainian national team will play at the European Championship 2024 in Group E, where its opponents will be Romania, Slovakia and Belgium.
