U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his readiness to consider lifting the current ban on Ukraine’s use of American long-range weapons to strike Russian territory. He voiced this position during a closed-door conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, Trump emphasized that no final decision has been made so far. However, his openness to this discussion is seen as an important signal of a potential shift in Washington’s policy.
For months, the Trump administration has maintained a strict position, blocking Ukraine from using long-range missiles provided by the United States. This restriction has significantly limited the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in countering Russian aggression, a concern repeatedly voiced by Kyiv.
