One of the most recognized figures in American hip-hop, 55-year-old Sean Combs, better known by his stage name P. Diddy, has received a final sentence in a high-profile sex scandal case that shook the entertainment industry. The rapper has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison for organizing the transportation of women for prostitution, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing The New York Times.
The court’s decision also includes a fine of $500,000, and following his release, Combs will remain under supervision for five more years. The jury, however, acquitted him of more serious charges — including human trafficking and racketeering conspiracy — finding him guilty only of arranging the travel of sex workers.
Prosecutors had demanded a prison term of more than 11 years, while the defense insisted that a sentence of one and a half years, considering his time already served, would be fair. Combs was arrested in September 2024, meaning over a year has already been credited toward his sentence.
During the final hearing, P. Diddy admitted his guilt, attributing his actions to a long struggle with drug addiction. The rapper publicly expressed remorse before the court, his family, and the victims who testified against him, including singer Cassie Ventura and another woman identified as “Jane.” He described his behavior as shameful and unacceptable, saying he had lost control under the influence of drugs. Combs personally apologized to Cassie Ventura, her family, and “Jane,” promising never to harm another person again.
Family members later told reporters that Combs had changed significantly after a year behind bars and had deeply reflected on his actions. His legal team is now preparing a petition for improved prison conditions.
The scandal surrounding P. Diddy erupted in the fall of 2024 following multiple lawsuits filed by women who accused the producer of sexual assault. Investigations revealed that for years he had organized exclusive “white parties,” where drug use and acts of sexual violence allegedly took place. Witnesses testified that Combs not only attended these events but also recorded them on video. On September 16, 2024, he was arrested, and following the final court decision, he will now serve his sentence in full.
