Hungarian PM Orbán minimized the drone incident in Ukraine, calling the country "not sovereign" and commenting on its financial dependence on the West.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán downplayed the recent incident involving Hungarian drones crossing into Ukrainian airspace, stating that Ukraine “is not an independent and sovereign country,” reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to HVG.hu. In the podcast Harcosok órája, Orbán emphasized that Hungary has no intention of attacking Ukraine, and that President Volodymyr Zelensky should focus more on the situation in eastern Ukraine.

According to Orbán, the number of drones crossing the border — whether two, three, or four — is irrelevant. “Suppose they flew a few meters over, so what? Ukraine is not an independent, sovereign country, we are sustaining it, and it should not act as if it were sovereign,” the Hungarian prime minister stated.

Orbán also highlighted the critical role of Western financial support in Ukraine’s economic stability: “If the West decides not to provide a single forint tomorrow, Ukraine could go bankrupt.” He rhetorically questioned what Russia could possibly be spying on using Hungarian drones in Transcarpathia, considering that the frontline lies in eastern Ukraine.

Earlier we wrote that Viktor Orbán says Ukraine could be divided into three zones.
