Relevant document, decree No. 51/2024 «On building up the capabilities of the Defense Forces» , was published on the official website of the Office of the President, reports URA-Inform.
In the decree, the President instructs the government and the General Staff of the country to develop issues related to the creation in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of a separate branch of forces specializing in the use unmanned systems both in the air and on land and water.
After all organizational aspects have been worked out, the project will be submitted for approval to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
This step was a reaction to the recent article by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, where he noted the importance of unmanned systems in the country's future defense strategy in the context of the conflict with Russia.
The Commander-in-Chief believes that technical superiority in the field of unmanned systems could become a key factor on the field battle and lead to victory.
