How coffee affects the liver: unexpected research data from scientists

In recent years, liver disease has become one of the causes of premature death around the world. According to WHO, about 1.32 million people die from them per year.

This information was reported to Ua-novosti, URA-Inform reports.

British scientists studied the health status of about 500 thousand people for 11 years to learn about the effect of coffee on liver health. The researchers concluded that moderate consumption of this drink reduces the risk of developing chronic diseases of this vital organ.

According to the study, three to four cups of coffee a day reduces the likelihood of developing steatosis, fatty liver disease, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic cirrhosis and other chronic diseases of this organ by 20%. At the same time, the risk of death from these diseases among coffee drinkers is reduced by 49%.

The experiment involved citizens from 40 to 69 years old who agreed to donate their DNA for analysis, undergo a medical examination, talk about their diet and bad habits . Thus, scientists compared all the factors affecting health and determined that the more invigorating drink the volunteers consumed, the less often they suffered from liver diseases. This was especially noticeable among those who drank ground coffee rather than instant coffee.

However, scientists do not advise overusing coffee, since a large amount of it can have a bad effect on other organs and systems of the human body.
