Former reality TV star Jen Shah, known for her role on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, has been released early from federal prison, reports Baltimore Chronicle.
Shah was released Wednesday morning from Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan, a minimum-security facility in Texas where she had been serving her sentence for conspiracy to commit wire fraud connected to a telemarketing scheme targeting elderly victims. Following her release, she was transferred to community confinement, which could be home confinement or a halfway house. The Federal Bureau of Prisons stated that for privacy and security reasons, the exact location of individuals in community confinement is not disclosed.
Originally sentenced in 2023 to six-and-a-half years in prison, Shah’s early release came after her sentence was reduced twice for good behavior. Her prior release date had been set for August 30, 2026.
Shah, who pleaded guilty in 2022 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, was ordered to forfeit $6.5 million and pay restitution to victims affected by the nationwide telemarketing fraud. At her sentencing, she promised to repay the victims, stating she planned to use her platform after prison to raise funds.
A mother of two, Shah appeared in the first two seasons of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Bravo. The second season, ending in March 2022, focused on her legal struggles with the fraud charges.
Andy Cohen, executive producer of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise, confirmed on his SiriusXM show that Shah will not return to the series. “She’s not coming back to ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.’ I wish her all the best in her next life,” Cohen said, adding that while she may appear on another reality show, it will not be one produced by Bravo.
