"Gypsy King” is in no hurry to look into the future.
WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury spoke about a possible rematch against the world champion according to WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF Alexandra Usika.
The “Gypsy King” said that he is not sure that his second fight with the Ukrainian will take place. According to the Briton, everything will depend on the state of his health, since it is impossible to know what will happen in the next fight.
“I only take one fight at a time. I can get brain damage and die in the first fight with Usyk. You can't look ahead to the next fights. A train might run over me, who knows. One fight at a time.
We'll see later “How will I feel. If I'm fit, ready, healthy and injury-free, then I'll do something again. If not, I'll retire,” Fury said in an interview with The Stomping Ground.
Let's add that Fury previously announced grandiose plans for the future. The “Gypsy King” said that before retiring, he plans to have at least five more fights, including two with Usyk.
The Usyk-Fury fight will take place on May 18 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The fight was scheduled for February 17, but due to an injury the Briton received during one of the sparrings, it had to be postponed.
To avoid another breakdown of the fight, the organizers established sanctions, which will be applied to Usik or Fury if one of them does not enter the ring on May 18. Boxersface a huge fineif they refuse to fight on the scheduled date.
The winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the first undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.
The last “absolute” in the heavyweight division was Lennox Lewis, who achieved this status in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. Back then, the WBA, WBC and IBF titles were at stake. The WBO belt was recognized as equal in 2007, so the winner of the fight between Usyk and Fury will become the first ever “absolute” heavyweight with four major titles.
