Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk (No. 27 WTA) was defeated by the fourth racket of the world Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan in the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart.

The decisive match lasted 1 hour 11 minutes and ended with a score of 6:2, 6:2 in favor of the Ukrainian opponent.

On the way to the final of the competition in Stuttgart, the Ukrainian won three consecutive victories over tennis players from the top 10 of the world ranking. Kostyuk won a very difficult victoryover Chinese Zheng Qingwen (No. 7 WTA), won a strong-willed victoryover American Cori Gauff (No. 3 WTA) and defeated the current Wimbledon champion strong> Czech Marketa Vondrousova (No. 8 WTA).

For Kostiuk, this was the third WTA level final in her career and the second this year. In early March, she lost to Briton Katie Boulter in the decisive match of the WTA 500 tournament in San Diego, America.

Kostyuk’s only title remains the victory at the WTA 250 tournament in Austin in 2023 .

Having reached the final of the tournament in Stuttgart, Marta rose to 21st place in the WTA rankings – this is her personal record.

Rybakina won the eighth WTA title in her career and her third in 2024 year.
