Kazakhstan’s “Samruk-Kazyna” Fund introduced SKAI — the first AI board member with voting rights, powered by the national supercomputer and Alem LLM model.

Kazakhstan’s National Welfare Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” has unveiled an innovative neural network named SKAI (Samruk-Kazyna Artificial Intelligence), which has become the world’s first digital independent board member with full voting rights, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing the official announcement of the fund.

The official presentation took place during the Digital Bridge international forum in Astana. Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that this is the first project of its kind in Central Asia, developed on the basis of the national supercomputer and the country’s large language model Alem LLM. He noted that SKAI represents a major step toward integrating artificial intelligence into corporate governance systems at the national level.

According to the fund, SKAI aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and the quality of management decisions within the organization. The neural network analyzes internal and external regulatory documents, as well as decisions of the board of directors dating back to 2008 — the year “Samruk-Kazyna” was established. This approach is expected to help board members make more well-balanced, evidence-based strategic decisions.

Technically, SKAI operates within a closed digital environment on Kazakhstan’s second most powerful supercomputer, Al Farabium. This ensures that all information remains within the country, maintaining a high level of cybersecurity and data protection. The system’s advanced computing power guarantees both reliability and the speed of analytical processing required for corporate decision-making.
