In Sumy, on the basis of the KNP “Central City Clinical Hospital” performed the first shoulder replacement surgery in the region.
This was reported by the press service of the Sumy City Council, Ukrinform reports.
"On the basis of the KNP “Central City Clinical Hospital” performed the first endoprosthesis of the shoulder joint in the Sumy region,” the report says.
It is noted that the patient suffered from deforming osteoarthritis and aseptic necrosis of the head of the shoulder joint for a long time.
The disease was accompanied by constant inflammation, significantly severe pain and limitation of movements of the right limb, discomfort and night pain that prevented sleep. The disease was not treated conservatively, so the doctors decided to replace the shoulder joint with an endoprosthesis.
Four days after the operation, the patient was discharged from inpatient treatment for outpatient rehabilitation, which will last about two months.
