In a comment to the Ukrayinska Pravda publication, a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recalled that with the help of the A-50, Russian troops scanned Ukrainian territory, detecting air targets for the operation of their tactical aviation. This reconnaissance aircraft usually works with the Il-22 command post, NBN reports.
According to the colonel, the “demilitarization” of the A-50 cannot radically change the balance of power with the use of aviation at the front, since the army Putin has a significant “air fleet”. Ignat added that the elimination of the A-50 is a serious blow to enemy aviation and the image of the aggressor country. At the same time, the occupiers have several reconnaissance aircraft in working condition, which they will use in the war in Ukraine.
