India has made it clear to the United States that it will reduce imports of Russian oil only if Washington allows purchases of crude from Iran and Venezuela, which remain under U.S. sanctions. This was reported by Baltimore Chronicle citing Bloomberg.
According to the agency’s source, an Indian delegation that visited the United States this week reiterated this request during meetings with American officials. Representatives of India stressed that a simultaneous halt of oil supplies from Russia, Iran, and Venezuela could trigger a sharp rise in global prices.
India’s Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal, during his visit to New York this week, stated that the country is interested in increasing purchases of U.S. oil and gas.
Earlier we wrote that EU plans to limit russian oil imports via the “Druzhba” pipeline.
