CCBC free community swimming is available from June 22 through August 20, 2026, at 3 Baltimore County campuses. Residents can use pools in Catonsville, Dundalk and Essex during designated weekly sessions, as noted by the Baltimore Chronicle.
The Community College of Baltimore County expanded the program after a successful 2025 pilot at its Essex campus. CCBC President Sandra Kurtinitis said the broader access should strengthen connections between the college and nearby communities.
Where and When Residents Can Swim
Each campus follows a separate schedule. Visitors should check the day and time before traveling.
| CCBC campus | Days | Free swimming hours |
|---|---|---|
| Catonsville | Tuesdays and Thursdays | 6:30–8 p.m. |
| Dundalk | Mondays and Wednesdays | 12:30–2:30 p.m. and 4–6 p.m. |
| Essex | Tuesdays and Thursdays | 3–5 p.m. |
The program offers options for lap swimming, family recreation and relief during Maryland’s hottest summer weeks. Access remains limited to the listed community swimming periods.

What Swimmers Need Before Entering
Although admission is free, CCBC requires advance registration. Every participant must:
- complete the online community swimming waiver;
- obtain a CCBC OneCard;
- present the card during check-in;
- follow campus pool safety rules.
CCBC recommends submitting the waiver early because processing may take time. Arriving without an approved OneCard could prevent entry.
Certified lifeguards will supervise every public session. Campus employees will also help visitors complete check-in and locate pool facilities.
Why CCBC Expanded the Summer Pool Program
The 2025 Essex pilot showed demand for accessible public swimming in Baltimore County. The 2026 expansion places free sessions at campuses serving different parts of the county.
The initiative runs for nearly 2 months and does not require a paid college membership. However, free admission does not remove the registration requirement.
