The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.6 billion after no ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing, making it the fourth-largest prize in the history of the lottery game, according to Baltimore Chronicle with reference to official Powerball announcements.
The winning numbers drawn on Saturday were 4, 5, 28, 52, and 69, with the Powerball number 20. With no grand-prize winner, the next drawing is scheduled for Monday night.
The largest Powerball prize ever was $2.04 billion, claimed on November 7, 2022. The jackpot was last hit on September 6, when two tickets in Missouri and Texas shared a $1.787 billion prize. Saturday’s result marked the 45th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner.
The winner of the current jackpot will have the option to choose between annual payments totaling an estimated $1.5 billion or a one-time lump sum of $735.3 million. Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
The lottery continues to attract attention as it nears the holiday season, with millions of participants hoping for a share of the historic prize.
