In Lviv Okhmatdyt, doctors restored hearing to two children

The Center for Children's Medicine reported this on Facebook. Hospital “Okhmatdyt”, reports Ukrinform.

“Our Center has done two more cochlear implantations!” This is already the fifth such surgical intervention in the last 9 months! Our otolaryngologists operated on a three-year-old boy from Chervonograd, Lviv region, and a three-year-old girl from Nikolaev (the family now lives in Lutsk). The surgical interventions were successful,” the message says.

Indicates that the patients are children with profound hearing loss. Hearing aids did not help them. So, cochlear implantation for them became the only chance to hear sounds.

The implants are from the American manufacturer Advanced Bionics, who donated them to Ukrainian These devices are expensive, but for children the operation is completely free.

Prof. Jozef Mierzwinski (Bydgoszcz, Poland), Prof. Marcin Szymanski (Lublin, Poland) and Prof. Andrzej came to help Ukrainian doctors perform the operations Zharovsky (Antwerp, Belgium).

As Ukrinform reported, in Lviv, thoracic surgeons at the Children's Medicine Center at the Okhmatdyt Hospital successfully operated on a one-year-old girl who had pumpkin seeds in her respiratory tract.
